Yamuna (Yamunotri)

Mandakini (Kedarnath)

Situated in the Rudraprayag district and raised to a height of 3,583 metres above the sea level, Kedarnath Temple is found in the 8TH century A.D. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva as it is believed that the God Shiva agreed to dwell here at the demand of Nara-Narayana. As per the historic details, Pandava brothers built the first temple at Kedarnath. Kedarnath Temple opens from the starting of May and remains closed in the month of Diwali. The temple of Bhaironath, which is situated behind the temple of Kedarnath, saves it from any kind of evil.

Alaknanda (Badrinath)

Present in the Chamoli district and raised to a height of 3,300 metres above the sea level, Badrinath Temple is the holiest place among the four Dhams. It is located between the mighty Nar and Narayan peaks, the Badrinath Temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu. This is particularly the last stage of Chardham Yatra. It is the place where Ganga flows to settle into different channels. Moreover, it is also believed that God Vishnu sat in meditation at this holy place. Satisfied by the determination of Lakshmi, God Vishnu named this place as Badrika Ashram.
