Yamunotri Temple

Maharaja Narendra Shah first built the temple in 1839, which was again restored two times first by Maharani of Jaipur and then by General Thapa. The idol of goddess Yamuna is made up of Black marble, which is beautifully crafted with a chisel.

The temple is located at the Garhwal hills of Uttarkashi district; you have to trek 12 km of the sharp climb to reach the temple. Guesthouse, pilgrim’s centres, and restaurants are constructed here. The height of the temple is about 3293 meters above sea level. You can attain all the poojas in the early morning and during the evening time.

Gangotri Temple

Gangotri means river Ganga which worshipped as goddess Ganga. The temple is located at the Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand on the top of the Himalayan range. The temple is situated on the bank of Bhagirathi River; it is believed that river Ganga’s origin is from this site. The temple is located at the height of 3415 meters above sea level. The Gorkha general Amar Singh Thappa built the temple in the 18th century. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiv released river Ganga to this place from its locked hair for the betterment of living beings so that it can supply pure water.
